Wirtualna Polska invests in another photovoltaic farm in Lower Silesia It has the capacity of 1.85 megawatts. Green electricity generated from actual own production already covers nearly 80% of WP’s power consumption needs for running its server-hosting facilities. This marks another step towards the achievement of the company’s sustainable development goals.

The value of the newest investment is over PLN 8.1 million. The 1.85 MW farm is located in the lower Silesia Region on over 3 hectares of land. The combined capacity of all of Wirtualna Polska’s three photovoltaic plants is nearly 5 megawatts.

"Almost two years ago we made a commitment to achieve zero emissions and we keep our promise. In the WP Group, we only use green energy and we also produce it ourselves. Poland stands on dirty coal, so any investment in environmentally friendly energy source in Poland means much more than it does in the Western Europe", says Jacek Świderski, CEO of Wirtualna Polska Holding S.A.

Wirtualna Polska’s Sustainable Development Strategy has recently been recognized in the "ESG Leaders" contest organized by the Warsaw Stock Exchange, PwC and NN Investment Partners. The Silver ESG Leader title was awarded to Wirtualna Polska Holding S.A. for its green transformation, which means transitioning to renewable energy sources and for publishing environmental articles on its sites. The chapter also recognized the goals relating to the recovery of no longer used IT hardware and the ambition to plant or protect 30 hectares of forest by 2030.

Investments in renewable energy are a major component of the "WP Naturally" project. Last year, Wirtualna Polska launched a test photovoltaic farm on the roof of one of its sever-hosting facilities and subsequently it invested in a 5-hectare photovoltaic farm in the Lower Silesia region. Currently, after another investment, electricity generated by actual own production already covers nearly 80% of WP’s power consumption needs for running its server-hosting facilities. All energy purchased by the company is covered by guarantees of origin from renewable sources.

Wirtualna Polska is a technological holding group involved in media, advertising and e-commerce business. It owns the WP Home Page and operates specialized topical websites such as money.pl, WP SportoweFakty or benchmark.pl and holds stakes in subscription services such as Audioteka and Patronite. In the e-commerce sector, WP has presence mainly in travel (among others, wakacje.pl, Szallas Group, nocowanie.pl) and financial services (superauto.pl and totalmoney.pl). According to a Mediapanel survey, in November 2022, 22.5 million Poles used WP’s online products.
