This year’s debut of Wirtualna Polska Holding S.A. on the Warsaw Stock Exchange gained recognition in the eyes of the financial markets as proved by the receipt of two prestigious awards – Best IPO Award and Top IPO of 2015.
East Capital, a company specializing in equity management in the emerging markets, recognized Wirtualna Polska Holding S.A.’s debut on the Stock Exchange as being the best IPO in Eastern Europe in 2015. In its opinion, Wirtualna Polska launched the most successful public offering in our region. The jury presenting the award drew attention to the fact that the stock closed up 10% on the first day of trading and that since the debut on the Warsaw Stock exchange, the stock has returned 24% in PLN terms outperforming the local market (WIG index) by as much as 33%.
The East Capital Awards were presented to outstanding companies for the twelfth time. Apart from Wirtualna Polska receiving the Best IPO Award, in 2015 awards also went to: YES BANK Limited, India, in the Best Growth category, Engro Foods Limited, Pakistan, in the Discovery of the Year category, and Moscow Exchange, Russia, in the Best Corporate Governance category.
Wirtualna Polska Holding was also awarded the title of Top IPO 2015 in the 1st edition of the competition and, at the same time, the CEE Capital Markets Awards Gala at which awards were presented to the best public companies listed in Central and Eastern Europe. The nominees, in eighteen categories, included companies from Poland, Romania, Ukraine, Hungary, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Estonia, Bulgaria, Austria, Germany, Slovenia and China. The winners were selected by a jury consisting of representatives of investment funds, banks, industry-specific media as well as representatives of the stock exchanges in Warsaw and Bucharest. Ultimately, twenty-one awards were given in three categories: companies, investors and service providers.
